Player Spotlight: Reese Robins Finding Her Groove

Player Spotlight: Reese Robins Finding Her Groove

It was a breakout kind of night for Reece Robins in Louisville’s recent spring match against Tennessee.

The 6'5" opposite delivered the best attacking performance of her career, racking up 19 kills and showing off a much more dynamic range at the net. From sharp cross-court to off-speed rolls, Robins had the full arsenal on display.

A key difference? It looks like Louisville is dialing up the tempo to the right side. That faster ball is giving Reece more time to get her feet set and giving her more angles to work with—resulting in a cleaner, more varied attack. The result? A confident, powerful presence who’s making a strong case heading into the fall.

Her Journey So Far:

As a freshman, Reece made her first splash in the Sweet 16 match vs. Creighton, coming off the bench in the double-sub and delivering a few timely points. In 2024, she was a regular part of the 6-2 system alongside Elle Glock, hitting .295 on the year—a solid clip, though she wasn’t necessarily the focal point of the offense.

Now? That could be changing.

With freshman Kalyssa Blackshear on the roster and returning to action soon, there’s still competition for that starting opposite role. But if this spring is any indication, Reece is rising to the challenge.

The big question heading into the 2025 season:

Can Reece win the spot—and keep it?
