SEC Announces 2025 League Schedule as Cats Begin Their Quest for Ninth-Straight Title

As spring ball turns the corner to head down the home stretch, the Kentucky Volleyball team is continuing to prepare for one of the most anticipated seasons in Lexington in quite a while. And after the league office announced the Southeastern Conference schedule for each of the now 16-member conference on Thursday, we now have a full view of what the Cats are up against in SEC play as they begin their quest for a ninth-straight SEC Title.

SEC play will look a little different in 2025 as the league welcomes Vanderbilt University to compete in the conference for the first time since the completion of the 1979-1980 academic year. With the addition of the Commodores, 16 teams now make up the SEC in women's volleyball in a conference that has quickly become one of the most competitive leagues in the country. 

This season, the league format will be a single game round robin as each team plays 15 games in the conference season followed by a conference tournament to be held for the first time in over a decade. 

The Cats will begin SEC play on September 24 as they welcome the South Carolina Gamecocks to Historic Memorial Coliseum before hosting the Georgia Bulldogs just two days later on September 26. Following the two matches in Lexington to begin conference play, the Cats will travel to Ole Miss on October 3 for their first road match of league play.

Other highlights include a home match against the Florida Gators on October 19, and a homecoming for former associate head coach and now Vanderbilt head coach Anders Nelson and former Wildcat and now assistant coach Azhani Tealer as they bring their Vanderbilt Commodores to Memorial on October 31. The match will be Nelson's first time back inside Memorial since he left for the head job in Nashville after the completion of the 2022 season. After hosting the Commodores, Kentucky will travel to Texas on November 2 for its first road match in Austin since the Longhorns joined the SEC last season. The Cats will conclude the regular season at home on November 16 as they welcome the Arkansas Razorbacks to Memorial to wrap up league play. 

Following the completion of the regular season, Kentucky will travel to Savannah, Georgia to participate in the SEC Tournament as the league brings back the league tournament for the first time in two decades. The SEC Tournament previously took place from 1979 to 2005 and saw six different schools take home the trophy throughout its 26-year run. Florida leads the league with 12 SEC Tournament titles and Kentucky has five. The SEC Tournament will take place from November 21-25 at Enmarket Arena in Savannah, Georgia as all 16 teams compete to win the coveted league trophy.
