Skinner, Kentucky Reload in the Portal as Hudson, Carr, and Berezowitz Transfer to Kentucky

Skinner, Kentucky Reload in the Portal as Hudson, Carr, and Berezowitz Transfer to Kentucky

Despite losing a senior class that won four Southeastern Conference Championships and consisted of regular starters like Emma Grome, Eleanor Beavin, Megan Wilson, and Erin Lamb, it appears the Cats have reloaded for next season yet again- only this time, through the transfer portal.

That transfer portal has been unkind to the Cats in the past, as talented athletes like Madi Skinner, Reagan Rutherford, Elise Goetzinger, and Jordyn Williams – among others – all left Lexington to pursue opportunities elsewhere. But it seems to have worked in Kentucky’s favor in a major way for the 2025 season as three new Wildcats have made their way to Lexington to don the blue and white.

Headlining the portal class is former Purdue Boilermaker Eva Hudson, who was arguably one of the best outside hitters in the country last season and chose to spend her final year of eligibility playing for UK head coach Craig Skinner. Hudson ranked 10th in the country in kills per set with 4.81, ironically just one spot behind Brooklyn DeLeye who sat at 9th with 4.87 per set. Hudson led the Big Ten in kills in 2024 and was the Big Ten Freshman of the Year at Purdue in 2022. Alongside her counterpart in DeLeye, the pair should form one of the best one-two offensive punches in the country next season.

Hudson isn’t the only Boilermaker suiting up for the Cats next season though, as redshirt sophomore middle blocker Lizzie Carr also announced a transfer to Kentucky with two years of eligibility remaining. Lizzie is the younger sister of current Kentucky men’s basketball player Andrew Carr and helped lead the Boilermakers to a 27-7 record in 2024. In 2024, Carr averaged 1.52 kills per set on a .301 clip to go along with .63 blocks per set and at six-foot-six adds some much-needed size and depth for Kentucky out of the middle.

Rounding out the portal class is defensive specialist Molly Berezowitz, the younger sister of former Wildcat Maddie Berezowitz. Molly transfers into Kentucky from Marquette with two years of eligibility remaining. Berezowitz spent much of the 2024 season as the libero for the Golden Eagles and anchored a defense for a team that made its way into the 2024 NCAA Regional Semifinals in Salt Lake City. The junior averaged 1.97 digs per set last year with 213 total digs and 15 aces and totaled at least ten digs in ten matches for the Golden Eagles.

While the Cats certainly lost a lot of talent in a senior class that had tremendous success, between the athletes the staff brought in out of the portal and the young talent already coming in, the 2025 college volleyball season is shaping up to be a very exciting one for Kentucky fans.
