So WHY MAC?

Why Mac

Subscribers and future subscribers of VBAdrenaline.com what a week and what a couple of months.  Who knew “this little fascination into trying to improve the volleyball recruiting process” would become such a full-time passion?  Well as they say in the poker world I am now officially “pot committed” or “All In”.  Thursday’s announcement of Mac Podraza as our full-time director of volleyball operations signifies the start of our site building a staff to cover more and more athletes and deliver more and more unique content, education, and news surrounding the world of volleyball recruiting and the college volleyball world.  So WHY MAC???

  1. I didn’t know her volleyball past (doesn’t surprise most of you:) I saw her on BTN this Summer and her name jumped out at me.  You know I’m a nickname guy and I thought hey that’s a name that would be easy to have a bunch of nicknames with and she does a great job on air….Who is she?  So I looked her up.  Then it came back to me who she was and I loved the history that she has had in the sport.

1. She isn’t afraid of hard work.  I have tried to go after a few broadcast figures, in the past couple of years, that also play professionally.  Faces that Ibelieved would help make an impact and be a voice for younger volleyball players as we grew this site.  But, quite honestly after getting done with the 24/7 grind of college volleyball they wanted to enjoy their freedom and free time while playing professionally and didn’t want “another job”.  Mac is just the opposite.  “I have about 4 hours a day I need to do something during my pro season and it might as well be volleyball.” She told me during our initial call.  She is a student of the game and I’m sure will end up being a big-time coach someday.  She is a film junkie so why not put that to good use evaluating the top prospects in the country.  Something I had yet to find in talking with several other professionals.

3.  She is a spitfire.  I love that she has her ideas and she has seen a bit of everything in the game.  She knows how recruiting works.  Mac has seen the good, the bad, and the ugly of college volleyball and like me, she wants to help educate young prospects and families on the process so they can have a better experience in the future.  Mac also has no problem disagreeing with me and doing so professionally and confidently.  I need that daily for this company to grow the correct way.

4.  This is a competitor.  She wants to be #1 as badly as I do.  We both understand that our business model is not built for mass subscriptions, but we also believe that by putting out the best content and being the most respected the other things take care of themselves.  When she tells me that I will be the 2nd hardest worker on staff….that’s all I need to hear.

5.  She brings experience.  She’s a professional volleyball player for crying out loud.  Everything we talk to prospects about; Mac has literally gone through in real life.  So we will be the most knowledgeable site for recruiting in the business.

6. She was needed.  I was running out of juice trying to keep up on my own.  Mac brings energy and ideas that allow me to build a credible staff full of like-minded people who share my vision for VBAdrenaline.com and that will help build our site bigger and better than ever.  I’m very excited for not only Mac but Casey with our social media and our content creators who will be joining little by little over the next months.  Together I think we can do some really cool things.  Remember we will always be DIFFERENT and that’s on purpose, but there are some great updates and changes ahead so we hope you tell a friend or another volleyball fan to subscribe and follow us.

Why Mac?  Because she shares my vision to change the way volleyball recruiting is covered and that is 100% what VBAdrenaline.com is all about WELCOME to the team.
