Mac Attack's 2027 Pass to Attack-er's

Mac Attack's 2027 Pass to Attack-er's

The 2027 class has some height at the pin… There are some TALL outside hitters out there right now. I am impressed with some of these kid’s ability to pass well and transition to hit. There are a couple things standing out that quite a few of the 2027 hitters need to work on and a lot of it has to do with transition... to all hitters; please stop back peddling. Nothing drives me crazier than to watch an outside hitter go to transition and back peddle the whole way. Let me know if you've seen a college outside hitter transition like that… I'll wait.

On the other hand... something that I have seen some of the best college outsides do really well is pass to attack. There are a couple of outside hitters that I have noticed that actually seem to have MORE rhythm on their approach when they pass to attack than if they just attack. A collegiate hitter that I have played against who I knew to never serve because she was going to CRUSH it is Sarah Franklin. Franklin is arguably better at swinging after she passes than if she doesn't have to pass to attack. Here are a couple of outside hitters I've noticed that pass to attack well.

Tessa Larkin, AZ Storm, 280 PPV- She passes really well. She has good rhythm on her approach. Has a very long arm swing and reaches really well. Often sees the block well from a back row attack.

Kate Kalczynski, Legacy, 265 PPV- One of the best pass to attack hitters I have watched yet. She has really good power behind her swing.

Westley Matavao, Forza 1 North, 270 PPV- decent rhythm on pass to attack. Has good power. Good last two steps especially in out of system situations.

Ava Burgess, Club V, 240 PPV- Disciplined passer when in the back row and is always on a route for a back row attack. Has springs in her feet and jumps well with good power. Lots of potential.

Reagan Wallraff, Nebraska One, 228 PPV- passes well. Attacks after her pass in rhythm and can catch up to a fast set in system. Fast arm swing.

Peyton Kubik, Dynasty, 225 PPV- good at a cross court shot after passing in system. Has the wrist away, deep corner or sharp shot down to a science

Bryn Meyer, Legacy, 222PPV- has only become a better pass to attacker over time and I could see her getting even better as she develops. Long arm swing with good natural ability.

Kharley Smith, Dallas Skyline, 192 PPV- when she passes well she hits well. Swings line well after she passes. Has a lot of power behind her arm. Also plays some middle.

Anaiya Thornton, SCVC, 196 PPV- her setters should set her more after she passes. Passes well then can attack on the RS or the OH. Super high flier with good power. Lots of potential!

Hayden Mandsager, REV, 206 PPV- great rhythm on her pass to attack. Has some room to grow as a passer, but is working really hard and is at a great point. Such a power hitter- I can see her getting much better very soon.
