Summit League Has A Top Recruiting Week
After a slower 2025 class, the Summit League came to play in 2026, and it showed in the last week. The Summit League has gained a reputation as one of the top Mi-Major conferences in America, especially when it comes to recruiting. That may have never been more evident than with USD's 2024 Class rated the highest mid-major class ever. After a slower 2025 conference wide, the Summit is hot in 2026 and this past week that momentum was apparent.
In the past six days, the league had four commits, three of which have 100+ PPVs. It wasn’t just one team either, three different teams got in on the commit party. It started last Friday when top outside Gabi Zachariasen (PPV: 130) announced she would stay in state to play for USD. Then, on Sunday, Top 120 OH Romi Chlebecek (PPV: 119) verbally committed to Denver. Denver then added her teammate on MN Select 16-1 Abby Conklin (PPV: 58). Finally, another member of that 16-1 team, Bryn Lunski (PPV: 102), announced they would be staying in state to play for St. Thomas.
Zachariasen could be 3x Gatorade Player of the Year winner in South Dakota after being just the 2nd Sophomore (Bergen Reilly) to win the award. Zachariasen finished last season with over 500 kills and 200 digs. Bryn Lunski, who was included in our Battleground States series, reached 200 kills this past season. Finally, Chlebecek was a top-four ranked player in Minnesota this past season, and she led Lakeville South in kills last year with 279.
