Hawaii Bound Huskers

In three days, Nebraska volleyball will escape the fickle Lincoln weather in exchange for the turquoise waters and beaming rays of Hawaii – an annual trip as part of the beach volleyball season. While they are there for volleyball, they are also there for the little things; swimming during the sunset, having photoshoots on the shore, and most importantly, being in each other's company. In volleyball, chemistry is critical. In a sport that is reliant on connection and unity, a team – no matter how talented the individuals – is only as good as their bond with each other. For the Huskers, familial culture is a pillar of the program, and player relationships often extend far beyond the court.

Maisie Boesiger will be taking her final Hawaii trip this year as a senior, and she reminisced on the memories of past ones. She recounts her roommates for each year; Anni, Laney, and Kenna, and says, “Whoever your roommate is in Hawaii it's really fun because y’all get super close since you’re in the room all the time together and its a long trip – it's like 9 days.” She muses how her and Laneys room was “the worst room I had ever been in,” because they were having too much fun and didn’t have time to clean their bathing suits fomenting in sand. It’s really cool to get to see the girls' personalities off the court, and the Hawaii trip always results in lots of authentic content to consume – spontaneous Instagram lives, TikTok vlogs, if you look close, you might even get a glimpse of Harper's naturally curly hair! Maisie captured last year's visit on her video camera, uploading it to her Youtube channel that features other behind the scenes footage; https://www.youtube.com/@maisieboesiger4361
