Create a Player ProfileTexas Will Begin 2025 Season at Opening Spike Classic in Wisconsin

Car races, powerful speeches, the universe itself – all good things start out with a bang, and the Texas Volleyball season will be no different. The Longhorns will be tested immediately as they kick off the 2025 season in Madison, Wisconsin at the Opening Spike Classic from August 29th-31st. The round-robin tournament is hosted by the University of Wisconsin in their 17,000-seat basketball arena, and attracts a few powerhouse programs in Texas, Wisconsin, Creighton, and Kansas.
Texas will begin their 2025 campaign with a revenge game against Creighton, the team that dropped them in the Regional Semifinals of last year's tournament. The Blue Jays will head into that match with a new head coach and a brand new roster, but is returning some key pieces with OH Ava Martin and MB Kiara Reinhardt, so expect them to provide a challenge. The Horns will also be taking on Wisconsin. The Badgers lost a lot of talent from last season, but similar to Texas they reloaded in the transfer portal and have a strong freshman class coming in, so expect Kelly Sheffield's squad to be as powerful as ever.
Jerritt Elliott is known for scheduling a tough non-conference schedule so that his team is ready when it comes tournament time, and it's looking like this year will be no different. If any freshmen are able to grab a starting roster spot, which seems very possible, they will be thrown into the fire in their first ever college match.
