The Huskers' Big-Ten Slate

The 2025 Big-Ten volleyball slate is out, and there is an overall consensus of mixed feelings amongst the fanbase; split between the lighter home schedule and a tough away slate. Most notably, the ever anticipated Nebraska-Wisconsin rivalry has been reduced to one match and will take place in Madison. This is a major disappointment for most, as there always seems to be a different atmosphere in the air when the Badgers come to Devaney. However, the matches of the series have been less exciting as of recent, considering Wisconsin was unable to steal even a single set against the Huskers last season.

In its replacement, the premier matchup will be hosting the defending National Champions in Penn State, who ended Nebraska's season in the most heartbreaking fashion possible. This rivalry stretches back decades, but recent events have made tensions even thicker. This game will likely take place at the end of the conference season, meaning it will hold immense implications for both the Big Ten title and seeding purposes in the NCAA tournament. The Huskers haven’t had good luck on Black Friday matches, so much so that it has become a known “curse” the team has yet to break. It's safe to say that both the players and the fans are out for revenge; so what better way than to fill Devaney to the brim, break the decibel scale, and get what would be the most satisfying win of the regular season.
