Get to know Asia Udo-Ema

Get to know Asia Udo-Ema

Get to know the Forza1North Outside Asia Udo-Ema . Udo-Ema is an impressive outside in the 2027 class with a PPV of 244 who is a stand out attacker for Forza1North team. She has a long wingspan which makes her great blocking at the net and is able to swing high over blockers. I had the chance to ask Asia a couple of questions about her to get to know her. Hope you all enjoy these fun facts about Asia as much as I did!

  • What is your favorite volleyball memory so far in your career?

My favorite volleyball memory has got to be playing in Europe with a team for a tournament called Global Challenge. Being able to explore different countries while playing the sport I love and meeting a ton of amazing people was unforgettable.

  • If you could play any position other than your own, what would it be?

If I could play any other position I would probably want to be a setter because I love how they get to delegate the court and be the focus point of deception in volleyball.

  • Do you play any other sports? Or If you could play any sport other than volleyball at the high level you are at what would it be?

I do not play any other sports but if I were to play any sport other than volleyball at a high level I would probably play basketball because I’ve been around it my whole life and I’ve always been curious about how I could’ve turned out as a basketball player.

  • What are you looking forward to this club season?

I am looking forward to keep competing in club and keep fighting for a bid to Nationals. My favorite volleyball skill would probably be a stuff block. Taking away an opportunity for someone to get a highlight reel has got to feel the best.

  • Do you have a favorite volleyball skill? Stuff block, big kill, out of system set, etc?

Especially when tension’s running high on the court, a stuff block can really change the momentum of the game.

  • Who is your favorite NCAA volleyball player?

My favorite former NCAA volleyball player has got to be Logan Eggleston. I’ve looked up to her my whole life and really valued her consistency and leadership on the court. She carries herself so proudly and professionally.

  • What do you like to do outside of the volleyball gym? Hobbies?

Outside of volleyball I really enjoy spending time with my family. I also like to paint and I’ve also spent time in photography for sports a few times. I like expanding my creativity. I love travel and finding out new things about my Afro-Latin culture. I would say my role models are my parents. They’ve built themselves from the ground up and constantly show me the dedication it takes to make a difference in our lives and for our community.

  • Do you have a role model or an influential person in your life? Who and what's the story?

My Dad has a huge influence on my mentality and how I go about everything that I do. He helps me understand what it takes to play at a high level and how volleyball can really transform my life if I allow it to. My Mom has always been there to support me through everything and she constantly makes me feel safe to be myself in whatever environment i’m in. She takes care of me always and is there for me at every waking call.

  • If you had to give advice to younger girls what advice/tips would you give?

Some advice that I can share for younger volleyball players is to not let anyone tell you that you can’t play this sport at a high level. As long as you keep working and keep competitive spirit there will always be a door open. There is no such thing as a ceiling if you keep attempting to grow and get better. I would also say cherish the memories and relationships you make along the way because this sport offers the best experience and people that you could every imagine.
