We are in the midst of the qualifying season and there is still so much more volleyball to be played this spring. We talked about how much farther ahead we are on the 2027 class than we have been before but we are still finding new names daily. Triple Crown always manages to bring a few names to the board and the mideast qualifier last weekend brought a few more as well. The VB Adrenaline team is hard at work watching film, breaking down athletes, and trying to see as many of those new faces as we can. Here is my list of a few new faces for me that our team managed to see over the last few weekends.
Maggie Kurpekis- OH/OPP, Adversity Volleyball, PPV 172- strong outside hitter. She hits the sharp angle really really well. She does a good job of waiting and approaching really hard and fast into her swing. This is an OH that I will keep my eyes on moving forward.
Chloe Burbage- 2028 Setter, NC Academy, PPV 200- one thing about me, i love an offensive setter. Chloe is the epitome of an offensive setter. The way she attacks when she's in the front row is so impressive. I love the turn and hit she has added to her tool box. Not only is she incredibly offensive herself, she has great hands and can run a really smooth offense too. SOOOO surprised I hadn't seen this athlete yet.
Maria Bortoluzzi- OH/OPP, Tribe, PPV 208- really long and lanky attacker. Has the build to be a really high level outside hitter in college. She has a fast armswing that she uses to sneak balls through the block. I have heard her name come up in quite a few college coaches' conversations and I think she's here to stay at the top of a lot of schools lists.
Sofia Simic- OH, Fight Club, PPV 221- HUSTLE player right here. She is going hard in transition and never misses a beat. She has a really long back swing that she uses to drive her up and allows her to hit with incredible power. She's a really strong attacker with great vision and height. Another one I'm surprised to just now be catching because she definitely has the college coaches attention!
Ashlyn Quiri- OH, AZ Sky, PPV 207- high flier with a really quick arm. She has a whip that allows her to beat blocks and bounce balls. I love her turn down the line. She has incredible control when swinging crossbody. She's also a big threat from a blocking standpoint and does a great job making plays to keep her team in the game on defense.
Laila Chadwick- Libero, Metro, PPV 198- now this isn't a new player to our boards necessarily but she got a bump in PPV because I have seriously loved watching her ball out in the back court. If she doesn't make the right read she is 100% throwing her body to try to get the ball up anyways. I love watching her dive all over the court to pick up balls on setter dumps and tips. She is really a strong defender and gives an all out effort every time.
Ainsley Wilson- MB, First Alliance, PPV 212- So tall and physical at this level. She has the ideal build to be a really TOP middle blocker at the college level and I will be checking in on her to see her develop over the next few seasons, but she is really physical as a 16! I love her height attacking over blockers on quick balls and I think her blocking movement is trending in the right direction.
Kya Behr- Setter, Fight Club, PPV 198- Another one that's not ‘new’ but is rising up to the top on my boards. She pushes the ball to the pin really well. Runs a ton of outside because she has a really strong OH in Simic. She is 5’10, so she's on the taller side and that definitely helps her. She is offensive at the right moments and scores well for her team. She has great court awareness and puts her OH in really strong hittable situations in and out of system.
