Create a Player Profile2027 Rightside Reactions
The position in volleyball that I personally have seen the biggest growth from is the right side player. Opposites have been a huge part of the international game for a long time, but I really think they have just recently become something that college teams are utilizing.I love to see some of these 2027 club teams using their opposite as a weapon and not just a place to put a big blocker. When you have a really good right side your offense has the chance to actually be balanced. A strong right side player that you can use in the back row… now that's a serious recipe for success.
Three of the best opposites in the college game right now are Olivia Babcock, Merritt Beason, and Emily Londot. Something that all three of these players have in common is that they are an actual threat. The middle blockers on the opposing side can't just release to the outside and middle because teams like Pitt, Nebraska, and Ohio State all have dominant right side hitters.
Here is a group of 2027 right side players i expect to continue to make a big impact on their club teams’ offense:
Aspen Brown- Houston Skyline, PPV 268- Really strong lefty. Brown jumps really well and attacks at a high contact point. She is really impressive in the back row and front row. I love how much her team uses her in the back row. This is a player I can see playing at a really high level in college.
Maddy Conner- Sudden Impact, PPV 194- Conner is a lefty on the right side. She is a dominant player switching to a new club team next season. There are so many benefits to having a lefty on the right side and she proves that. Maddy has been working on her all around game and is for sure going to be a threat on her club team this year.
Nejari Crooks- Triad Elite, PPV 266- Crooks jumps well with good hand to ball contact even out of system. She does a great job getting her feet to balls and still taking a rip at a ball even in bad situations- scores often being aggressive.
Olivia Greenwood- Wave, PPV 220- Lefty with a fast arm swing. She gets her feet to the ball in and OOS. I like her reach on her swing, I would like to see her wait longer before she approaches but she does a great job hanging and swinging fast.
Jordan Flodder, Dallas Skyline, PPV 191- Massive block on the right side. Has room to grow with her approach but has shown progressive growth through last year. I could see her causing some serious issues offensively and defensively.
Kieran Rhoton- Metro, PPV 181- fast arm swing. She hits with a lot of power. Played 6 rotations often so has experience in the back row digging and swinging. Does a good job as a blocker surrounding the ball and keeping it in the middle of the court. Would love to see her use her left arm as a guide!
Sophia Smith- Legacy, PPV 191- I love this legacy team! Smith gets her feet to the ball and has a whip of an arm. She is a big part of the offense and hits cross court and deep angle really well. They even use her on a high ball in the middle sometimes which I love to see.
Avery Banks- Tallahassee VBC, PPV 157- big lefty right side hitter. She's a tall hitter with a good amount of power. I could see her PPV increasing very soon. Banks has good mechanics and is a big part of the offense and defense. I think she will continue to grow through this club season.
These are all strong right sides that I expect to make an impact on their respective club teams coming up this season. I am looking forward to watching more of the 2027 opposite attackers because this class is STACKED!
