Caught Mac's Eye

Caught Mac's Eye

Although my TV is on March Madness basketball, there is still volleyball to be watched! There have been lots of players come across my desk this week. Lots of jumps in PPV as well as some drops. But here are a few players that caught my eye and stood out for one reason or another:

Kamryn Mullican: Setter, Drive Nation, PPV 171- A really solid setter. She is on a stacked team with a ton of talent so her job is to put up hittable balls and she does just that. Her location is good and keeps her team aggressive on offense.

Avery Banks: Opposite, Tallahassee VBC, PPV 170- last time I checked in on her PPV it was right around 150. We have seen some growth in this lefty right side attacker and I personally have been really impressed with her. I will continue to keep my eye on her to see her approach develop over the rest of this season, but she's a really strong opposite that's catching & keeping my eye.

Jasmine Tucker: Opposite, Metro, PPV 145- Our VB Adrenaline team has been watching tons of volleyball and Tucker was a player that stood out at the Capitol Hill Classic in DC. She is a strong right side attacker whose game is being elevated by the tourney. I am loving her line shot and will look for her toolbox to develop.

Payton Beard: OH, AVC Cleveland, PPV 161- A really solid all around outside hitter. Coaches have called her a hidden gem and I think that describes her well. She is a strong attacker that hits well from a ton of different spots on the court. Her versatility will make her a sought after hitter in the college game.

Kate Colosky: MB, Far Out, PPV 171- such a hard working middle hitter. She is constantly up in transition giving her setter the option to set her. She has a pretty high contact point and touches over 10 '2 allowing her to not just be an option but a really strong option attacking in the middle.

Hadley Lichty- Setter, Triad Volleyball Club, PPV 168- She has some height, which I love to see as a tall setter myself. I am excited to watch her grow into her height and continue to use it to her advantage. She puts up hittable balls and allows her attackers to get really clean kills.

Kayla Luther: Libero, Paramount Volleyball Club, PPV 160- Versatile player that played both libero as well as outside hitter occasionally. Her transition to attacking for her team was pretty seamless and efficient. Her passing and defense set her apart on the court and were great when she transitioned to hitting as well.

Shylyn Koerber: Setter, NKYVC, PPV 134- She has a pretty high contact point helping her play in a higher plane. I think she runs the middle well from off the net which will help set her apart. She holds her follow through when she sets middle balls but has a really quick finish when she sets the pins. I would love to see her finish last a little longer to possibly help her with strength and location. I will keep my eyes on her to watch her develop this season!

Avery Osler: OH, Club 757, PPV 164- Overall really consistent attacker. Does a good job putting the ball in play. She doesn't make a ton of errors, but also isn't going to be the one with the most kills. She hits at a high clip because she is smart and knows when to hit hard and when to take a little off. She is a really smart and steady player for her club team and I could see her increasing her ability to terminate this season and really breaking out.

Abby Faber: MB, First Alliance, PPV 128- Her height stands out on her team. She is a very tall middle blocker who runs a ton of different routes. She seems to have some really raw abilities that she is working to fine tune. I think she is a middle blocker that will win with power and not as much with speed. I will keep my eye on her for her PPV to elevate as she gets quicker this club season.
