Early Season Top PPV Evals: Silver Stars

Early Season Top PPV Evals: Silver Stars

On VB Adrenaline we continue to make a point of the fact that we don't believe in "ranking" players. Now we can't say we may not throw some fun lists together once in awhile on different topics, but WE DO NOT DO PLAYER RANKINGS. As we continue to build our follower base and communicate with more club coaches, athletes and parents again let us explain the rationale behind WHY WE DO NOT. 1. COLLEGES DO NOT RANK (Most every college program will use some sort of ability grouping method (similar to our PPV Color Levels) to organize and group players by approximate abilities. 2. No two coaches agree on a Top 10 List so who are we to Rank and Publicize a list? 3. Unless you are going to justify your rankings we don't believe in doing them. We try and explain what goes into our PPV and many things that go into making up a score. We also rely on people who have trained college eyes and we have mentioned some of the well-known former coaches who offer us a hand. 4. Rankings lead to bias. Now can our PPV scores, I'm sure to some degree, but we have also mentioned that it probably matters more about he Color Level you fall on than the score (a 242 and 238 are in all essence the same player in a coaches eyes and ours). 5. Changing we couldn't believe National Rankings were only updated 1 or 2x per year. Any parent of a HS student can tell you, they made change four times in a week. So our evaluation system is meant to be fluent and athletes could be evaluated at anytime. So there is no "Quarterly Adjustment" or "Hey it's Fall Rankings Update" just to get clicks PPV's can change often or never depending on evaluations.

So we will continue to try and explain our system and we know it's hard. Everyone wants to know "well is a 187 good?" "what can my daughter do to improve?" Well a 187 is what they are and what should they be doing regardless if they are 187 or a 199. It is what they are right now. Is being ranked 164th good? What can they do to get better? We may be completely wrong, but this is how we believe most coaches evaluate college talent. Again we arent' scoring them on how they are right now, rather how they will be as a 21 year old Junior. That is really hard for parents and athletes to understand and sometimes like, but it is how college recruiting works. They aren't handing out full rides to the 12U National MVP that doesn't grow anymore, but the girl who is on the C Team and grows 8 inches may go to the SEC and play in the Final Four.

Some of you will see scores that have changed, maybe quite a bit. We will stick to our ever changing PPV’s and stand by our professional rater’s abilities to grade players and help determine PPV’s. When we begin putting together PPV's as 15s there will be errors (both + and -) and it doesn't matter either way. Remember college coaches look at so many things when evaluating athletes and when many are grouped together they want to see how they will separate themselves from others, good and bad.

The class of 2027 has a ton of talent and some impressive players that are already standing out as we transition into the club season. This group of players is full of talent that fills out Silver level PPV. These players have a PPV determined by experts in the range of 220-255. These PPV’s will change throughout the duration of the club season as our experts watch more of the 2027s on the club circuit. There are a lot of players on this list that are very close in talent to each other as well as some players we haven't gotten to see much of recently due to injuries and other factors. Like we always say, these PPV’s will continue to change and we are always excited when we get to bump a player up for improving in season! For the athletes mentioned congrats, but again THIS MEANS NOTHING TOWARDS A SCHOLARSHIP, coaches don't care about our #s anymore than they do the other sites. It's a nice honor, but that is it. Feel good about and get back in that gym tomorrow. For an athlete not on this list, it's a silly list that's it, IT MEANS NOTHING. We may not even know your name yet. Someone on this list may be way overrated and might not be there in a month. Again THIS MEANS NOTHING TOWARDS A SCHOLARSHIP, coaches don't care about our silly list period. Congratulate your club mate and get back in the gym tomorrow, make sure we know about you, get a player profile if you want and get your reps in.
