Create a Player ProfileThe Volleyball State Strikes Again
With the 2024 National Championship quickly approaching I found out a really interesting and cool fact. Each team in the final 4 has at least one player whose home state is Nebraska. The number 1 overall seeded Pittsburg has Malorie Meyer from Roca, Nebraska. The Louisville Cardinals have two players, Elle Glock from Wahoo, Nebraska and Alanna Bankston from Omaha, Nebraska. Then the co-Big Ten Champions, Penn State, have Jordan Hopp from Alliance, Nebraska. And finally the cornhuskers have quite a few Nebraska natives in Lindsay Krause, Rebekah Allick, Maisie Boesinger, and Olivia Mauch.
After realizing this I decided to do a little dive into the prospects coming out of the great state of Nebraska. There is a clear connection between volleyball prospects and this state. Not only are there two very impressive college programs in Creighton and Nebraska in this state, but there is some serious talent currently in NCAA volleyball and a bunch more coming from the cornhusker state in the 2027 class.
Here are a few names that have stood out to me so far!
Reagan Walraff- OH, Premier Nebraska, PPV 240- Big time OH that is on the lists of many college coaches. She is an impressive hitter down the line and sharp angles. She is a hitter that will draw eyes to her court and is bound to create college attention for her teammates as well.
Taylor Anna Mcleay- Libero, Premier, PPV 131- Such a calm presence in serve receive. Does a good job of passing in system and getting her setter good balls. Has good range on defense and moves well. I would love to see more of her out of system game!
Reagan Meyers- OH, NE One, PPV 206- Plays middle blocker for her club team last season, but was a dominant OH for Superior High School and led her team to a state championship this fall. A tall and dynamic hitter that could really break out this season! I have spoken to a few college coaches who speak very highly of Meyers!
Erin Cramer- MB, Premier Nebraska, PPV 115- A middle blocker with significant size compared to her competition for sure. She is able to use her size to be super aggressive at the net. This season, speed will be a huge asset in her development. I am excited to see her PPV climb!
Malorie Boesiger- Setter, NE One, PPV 253- A Nebraska setter with skill! She is a really strong and impressive setter and one of the top in this age group! She does a great job moving the ball around and getting her hitters in a position to score.
Haleah Schuerman- Libero, NE One, PPV 125- This libero is on a talented NE One team and she does a good job of keeping balls off the ground for her teammates around her. She is getting better and better at covering more ground. She has also played many positions in her career so far so she has different skills that definitely help her out in the back row!
